On September 6th, each grade level was invited to the Carlson auditorium for an engaging and dynamic PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions
and Supports) assembly that had students buzzing with excitement. The event, led by Mr. Cassie and Mr. Anderson, was designed to review school procedures and expectations while also incorporating fun and interactive activities to ensure a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Mr. Cassie and Mr. Anderson took the stage to outline key procedures and expectations for students. They emphasized the importance of positive behavior, respect, and responsibility. By reinforcing these values, they aimed to set the tone for a successful school year, ensuring that students are aware of what is expected of them both academically and socially.
The assembly wasn't all about lectures, though. The real 
highlight of the event was the opportunity for students to participate in a series of entertaining games. One of the standout activities was the "Mummy Game," where students had just 60 seconds to wrap a teacher in toilet paper and turn them into a mummy. The laughter and excitement were palpable as students raced against the clock, trying to achieve the best results in the shortest time.
Another popular game was cornhole, where students tested their skills in a friendly competition. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and encouragement as participants aimed to score points and claim victory. These games not only provided a fun break from the routine but also fostered a sense of community and school spirit.
Winners of the various games were rewarded with some fantastic prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day. The prizes were a hit and served as a great incentive for students to participate enthusiastically.
Adding a special touch to the assembly was a motivational video message from Amon-Ra St. Brown, a well known player from the Detroit Lions. His words of encouragement were a significant highlight, as he wished the students a successful and enjoyable school year. The connection to a prominent figure in sports served as an additional source of inspiration, reminding students that they have the support of role models who believe in their potential.
Overall, the PBIS assembly at Shumate Middle School was a resounding success.
