Our School
WDOH : “David Oren Hunter” News broadcast
WDOH is our morning news program which is broadcasted live every morning on the classroom televisions. The 5th graders run the show! We have a news reporter, camera boy/girl, and a news writer. The crew rotates every few weeks. The last week of the crews broadcast is when they train the new crew. WDOH gives the students a chance to use technology, be on TV, deliver important school information, and exhibit independence. The news writer is in charge of gathering any and all important information including the weather, lunch choices, sports schedule, upcoming events, birthdays, Pledge of Allegiance, our mission statement, etc. He or she types the news up the day before and gives it to the news reporter. The news reporter is in charge of reporting all information and hooking the computer up to the LCD projector which displays different backgrounds including our school mission statement, American flag, WDOH, etc. The camera boy/girl sets up the camera, hooks it up to the TV, and records live! Not only does this program give the 5th graders a chance to shine it also allows other students to share accomplishments, jokes, school wide instructional focus, and much more.
